About the Show
MYTH & MARROW is an audience-participatory one‑act performance featuring newly arranged African American spirituals confronting our nation’s narrative of independence and Black womanhood.
What makes this work different is its court of public opinion: a live jury of twelve audience members. From a jury box on stage, they watch the show, then deliberate the charges against Black womanhood—excessive force, negligence, theft of labor, and civil disobedience in America. Their verdict, delivered in real time and in front of everyone, becomes part of the performance itself.
